Just a little hint. When you take your 4th qtr final, there will be a political cartoon which you will need to analyze. Here is an example. This isn't the one that is on the test, but it is a political editorial nevertheless.
So just take a practice. Ask yourself the following questions:
What is it making fun of? What statement is it trying to make? What makes it humorous?

hola caryn!well doesin really look lyk a lot of people comment u huh? myab u should get a myspace or sumtin. well anyway dis is for my extra credit. so ill answer the questions 2 dis post. da cartoon is making fun of IRAQ. the statement is that everyday someone is always dieing because of the war in IRAQ. it also states that as long as there is man we will always be in war. im not really sure wut makes it funny but maybe its sumtin lyk oh yea just a typical day wit some1 dying.
Hey Ms. Fukuda,
I like this political cartoon. The artist was clearly trying to capture how the soliders in Iraq are feeling everyday, how they have to deal with the horrors of war and death being apart of it. I think the humorous part is that the people here, in America, are so obviously to what is going on outside of this country and when a day to remember the soliders who died for our country comes along, we just see it as a day not to go to work or school. I am not trying to generalize Americans by saying that no one knows about the war because there are people who do and have that constant reminder of the war we are in, but for others who are not personally affected, they tend to forget that our country is at war. I guess who can't blame those who forget and it's probably not intentional or maybe it's just easier to forget about the war but i don't know, it just doesn't seem fair that those men and women have to be out there fighting for our way of life when we can't even remember they are even there. Sorry Ms. Fukuda, this is beside the point, I just know someone who knows what it feels like to have a memorial day, everyday.

btw dis cartoon is trying to depict life in iraq as ppl r gying everyday and so everyday is a day of reflection and remembrance of the dead in iraq the same way we remember the dead on our memorial day...Aaron Kamiya per.1
Hey Miss Fukuda its Shaun S-H(2nd Period) yeh 2nd comment lol thx alot for the 4th quarter final tip but i've always had trouble depicting politcal comics. Athough this comic was basically saying that ppl are dying in iraq and people are losing friends etc. but some of the comics i REALLY have no clue what its talking about:

heres a link for a comic i dont really get and most of them are like this. I just hope the one on the test isnt that hard to depict.

Its trying to make fun of all the deaths of soldiers going on in the war in Iraq. That soldiers are killed everyday to be memorialized. To me I dont really find it humorous its more on the serious side. Ok bye best teacher in the skoo =)
